Legal Question in Legal Ethics in South Dakota

law suet

one of the ladies at our clinic, told her son information about my daughter and he then told her classmates at the prom, which also happened to be her 16th birthday. Do i have a case to sue the clinic for privacy policy?

Re: law suet

There is a federal law against this type of privacy invasion. Although actual damages may be slight (depending on what this information was and what happened to your little girl because of its desemination) there are punitive damages available to you to teach the clinic to better instruct their employees about privacy. Good luck.

You probably do, but consult a SD attorney to confirm this and determine what your damages award could be.
