Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Dakota

Car accident settlement

I was in an accident on 12/31/06. It was not my fault and the other person did claim liability. My ins. co has paid all of the bills due to the NO FAULT LAW in MN. My bills added up to $14,000 and the other persons ins co is trying to make a sttmnt. I have done all of the work so far and cannot afford the attorney. I am wondering what is the standard high and low point that I should go when settling this claim. I have soft tissue damage and still hurt on some days. The docs say that I will have the pain but it is nothing that can be fixed. The ins co wants to know how much I want and I have no idea what things are worth. I have 2 kids and have dealt with bad pain for more than 6 mths.

Re: Car accident settlement

I really cannot give you a number because that depends on your injury, your medical bills, your future medical bills, your wage loss, your future wage loss, and the effect your injury has had on your free time activities such as hobbies as well as the effect it has had on your relationships with others.

I represent people, like you, in Minnesota and in South Dakota who have been injured in car accidents. There are many other capable attorneys who do what I do. I am not paid an hourly rate, I am only paid if you receive a settlement. If you do not receive a settlement, I am not paid for my time. Please understand that you do not have to pay an attorney an hourly rate to represent you in this matter. If I can help you further, please do not hesitate in contacting me. You may want to review my website (www.jdhaas.com) for more information. Best wishes.

I hope that I have answered your questions.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
