Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Tennessee
Do it yourself bankruptcy
I have previously worked in a semi legal profession and know how to fill out legal documents. I would like to file my own bankruptcy papers for a simple chapter 7 case. I have crushing credit card debt due to caring for my grandchildren who have now gone back to thier mother and i find myslef unable to keep paying these large payments on my limited and now smaller income. can i file myself and where do i go to get the forms, free if at all possible?

Re: Do it yourself bankruptcy
These forms can be obtained from the web sites of most of the bankruptcy courts. However, before you file this action on your own, consider how you will handle your exemptions allowable under state law, how you will deal with any real property and how you plan to protect whatever assets you may have. These are all things that a professional debtor's bankruptcy attorney handles on a daily basis. That attorney can smooth out a number of the bumps which may cause you loss that is avoidable.
