Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Tennessee

Medical Collections/ Chapter 7

Patient with a large balance has filed a chapter 7. What can we do to collect some of this balance. Can

we put a lein on his property?

If you had a previous judgment

for the medical charges, with

enrollment of the judgement as a

lien, the lien might survive the

bankruptcy but not the debt.

There does not appear to be a

previous judgment, therefore,

no lien is involved. The debt

will be extinguished by the

Chapter 7.
