Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee

My contract states that my boss will pay for my Montessori education, and I will work there for two years. I am still employed at the school and completing my program. She wants the books there tomorrow and claims because she paid for my education they belong to the school. All school owned materials are to remain at the school. (My contract does not specifically state the books, and they have never been at the school.)

She has told me if i do not bring her books to her tomorrow I will not get my pay check. I have already worked the hours that I my check is suppose to be for tomorrow.

Can she legally withhold my check? Are the books mine or the schools?

An attorney will tell you to contact your local Labor Department about unpaid wages. The contract you signed may or may not address some of these issues. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
