Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee
Employer contract
I am a Registered Nurse and I signed a contract to work for my employer for three years in exchange for tuition reimbursement for going back to school for my Bachelors in Nursing. My employer, a hospital, is in financial difficulty presently and they have been cutting all the Nursing staff hours two 24 hours per week. Can they bind me to the contract when they are not able to fulfill their part by not being able to work me fulltime?

Re: Employer contract
It depends on the language of the written agreement. If the agreement was for full-time employment, then they have breached their end of the agreement. Otherwise, you would be the one to breach it by leaving early. In any event, you would be well served to take the agreement to a lawyer to get a professional opinion about your rights and obligations.
