Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee
Being fired
I had an oral offer for a job with 150,000 yearly income and was told I would have a great future with the company. I sold my home and moved in order to take this job. After 4 months of working my new employer fired me because the business was slowing down. I had done the same job for many years with my former employer. Did they breach contract?

Re: Being fired
It really depends on the details of what was said and, more importantly, what was written. In Tennessee it is possible to create an employment contract with an individual by telling that person that he or she is going to be hired at a certain rate for a certain period of time. To determine what rights you may have, you should consult with an experienced employment attorney.
