Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee
Return of computer to employer after dismissal
We fired an employee in April 2005. Several verbal requests were made to him to return a laptop computer, printer and carrybag that was used in the course of his doing business for us and had been paid for and provided by us the employer. On July 5, 2005 a letter was sent asking that this property be returned to us by July 11, 2005. This letter was delivered on July 8, 2005. The letter asked that shipping information and a tracking numebr be relayed to us as well. We have heard nothing back. What are our options as to having this property returned to us? The former employee is located in Tennessee and we (the employer) are located in South Carolina.
