Legal Question in Business Law in Tennessee
Unofficial partnership, rights to assets
If an unmarried couple have owned a
business for 9 nine years (4 years in
FL and 5 years in TN) while living
and working together and everything
except the business phone is in his
name, by law, is she entitled to a
percentage of the assets if they split?
If so, approximately how much?
Would a court case be feasible to get
a reasonable portion of assets or
restitution?

Re: Unofficial partnership, rights to assets
If the assets are in his name, then it appears that he owns the business. However, she may file a lawsuit on a verbal partnership basis and could have a valid claim to an interest in the business.
She will nee to file a lawsuit to recover.
