Have I commited a crime?
My ex lover is threating to prosecute me for reading his email, he had given me the password and never told me I couldn't. Shouldn't he have changed his password if he didn't want me read it?

Federal law prohibits the unauthorized interception of Email. It appears you had permission to read his Email at one time. After he withdrew his permission you should not do so. It is highly doubtful that anyone will pay attention to his threats to prosecute, but you should cease accessing his Email account at once.
