Legal Question in Technology Law in Tennessee

Company sells my client information to competition

A National Organization that does work and research comparable to The Nature Conservancy but in a different field entirely recently sold contact information given to them by me to a direct competitor. I own a website that sells advertising to companies interested in getting their product across to my websites registered members. As a good gesture on our part we offered said Organization a fundraiser among our membership. We raised several thousands of dollars and delivered it to them. As a return gesture the Organization offered to send us a ''certificate of appreciation''. Then several months later my members start recieving literature in the US Mail from another website owner that directly competes with mine. The info that I had supplied to recieve the certificates was then sold. My members are now understandably irritated that their personal information has been sold. I even recieved said mailing. On the website of the Organization they plainly state that no information will be sold or given to any second party. I would like to know if I would have a case against this Organization for selling the contact information of my clients to a competitor? Thanks for any help.

Yes you do under several theories. State and Federal law will give you recourse.
