Legal Question in Technology Law in Tennessee

I was friends with a person and they offered to buy me a computer. I said okay but would feel better if i paid them a certain amount every month. I did this faithfully until they demanded the computer back after we had a falling out over another issue. I refused because I had paid as agreed and kept sending a check and they continued cashing them. They moved w/out telling me and the last check was returned in the mail. They say it wasn't their responsibility to tell me they moved and therefore they are threatening to sue me. I have tried to pay them. They refuse to accept my payments. We have absolutely no written agreements. Just verbal. We have texted most of our communication to where they offered to buy this for me and our agreed upon arrangements. I have bank statements of the cashed checks. This person is exceptionally unreasonable and irrational.

Keep the computer. Their past acceptance of payment is evidence of your oral contract to pay in installments. How much was computer at purchase?

How much have you paid?

Keep all cancelled checks in case they try to go to court.

W/O a written agreement your cancelled checks are your best evidence.
