Debt Carry over after Spouse Death

My parents are getting on in age, and I am trying to find out if my father dies, owing several medical bills, is my mother responsible for paying those? Will she end up losing their house and vehicles?

The answer is NO. She absolutely does not have to be burdened with his bills, however, she must take his estate through the probate court. She should get a good attorney to take her through the process.
