Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee
drivers license revocation due to debt
was involved in car accident in Jackson TN in 1999. Didn't have insurance at time. Have always been a TX resident. no further notification was ever recvd from insurance company or court. always had TX CDL. recently renewed TX CDL and recvd letter stating that TN had revoked DL and have 30 days to take care of. Called TN DPS. they stated that a judgment was granted in 2004 and that until it was settled, license would not be released. I was never notified of the judgment or debt. my license is my livelyhood. can i vacate judgment? How can you dispute a court case you knew nothing about? do they not have an obligation to notify?

If the judgment creditor could not find you to serve you personally, you could have been served by publishing in a local newspaper. You would have to examine the file to see if that is what happened.
