Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee
who is liable for a mother's credit card debt?
My mother has about 15,000 dollars worth of credit card debt...and she only has her medicare and alittle alimony as income. She is unable to pay the debt. What will happen to her...and is her family liable for her debt? (Her daughters over 18 years old.)

Your mother should consider chapter 7 bankruptcy. The children do not have to assume responsibility for her debt. But be careful, sometimes make the children feel that they are liable when they really aren't. Do not sign anything or assist her in paying the dent. It could make you personally liable for her debts.
