past debts

i have a past debt that is approximently 14 years old and have not recieved any type of contact untill recently. i was contacted by a debt collection agency about this and i was wanting to know how many years are theyable to go back on a collection?

If the debt is 14 years old, it will not be on your credit report and the statute of limitations should be up on it.
