1 Answer from Attorneys
Only if you are:
1 - In police custody (not free to leave, boxed in, in handcuffs, etc.).
2 - Being questioned by the police about your involvement in a crime that you are suspected of committing.
3 - They intend to use your answers against you.
Other than that, no, they don't have to read you rights. I have had many clients arrested, tried, convicted and now in jail or TDOC who were never read their rights. Of course, nothing they said was ever used against them.
