second degree attempted murder charge
Does the charge "attempted second degree murder" exist and if so what are the consequeces of this particular charge? Is it the charge the same thing as an assault charge?

Yes, under Tennessee law a person can be charged with attempted second degree murder, and the punishment for the offense is conviction for a first time offender is 8-12 years, while aggravated assault carries 3-6 years.
