Re: drug charges
In Tennessee, possession of drug paraphernalia is a Class A misdemeanor, carrying a maximum penalty of 11 months and 29 days in jail. There is no mandatory minimum sentence, but some judges will have their own "standard" punishment, some requiring jail time, some requiring public service, some requiring drug counseling and drug testing while on probation, some a fine. It all depends on the judge, and some will never sentence jail time and only give a fine. It all depends on the judge, meaning the thing to do is to contact a local attorney doing a good deal of criminal defense work to see how the particular judge generally deals with such matters.
