Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee
hi. my ex girlfriends dad helped me on a 3000 dollar loan. he took it out under his name on a 30 day note.and i signed that i would pay it back.well stuff kida fell through and i payed him back 2700 and he payed the rest so he wouldnt be charged extra. so the total balance to the bank is completely paid. now he says if i dont pay him the 300 then he would have me arrested. i never signed anything saying i would pay him back, can he have me arrested.

Breaching a contract isn't a crime unless you intended to breach it all along (in which case you would be guilty of fraud). That doesn't sound like what happened. The police probably will see things the way I do, but they will have heard his version of events and not yours.
You do still owe him the money, though. The fact that you didn't sign anything does not mean you are free to short-change him, even if you did the best you could to pay him back.
