Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

Illegally in canada with felony conviction

9 years ago I was arrested for auto burglary and because of bad advice from my public defender I was convicted and sentenced to 18 months probation and community service. I violated probation by fleeing the state. I know the time has passed for me to appeal. I'm now living in canada illegally and would like to stay here but in order to do it the legal way I need to clear things up. I was wondering if statute of limitations only applies to those yet to be convicted of a crime or if it applies in my situation as well. If it does not apply to me what punishment would I be facing?

Since you have already been convicted, and since there is almost certainly a petition filed to revoke your probation, there is no "statute of limitations" involved in your case, and until you return to address the probation revocation it will remain hanging over your head out there until you die. If you contact an attorney in the county involved he might be able to guide you thru the process relatively painlessly, but yours is not a case where anyone could be certain of the outcome.
