Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee
I live in TN and have been dating a registerd sex offender for a while now. He was charged with Criminal attempt to rape a child and served a year in jail. He is currently on probation and will be for seven years. His probation officer recently told him he could no longer see me due to the fact i have a 2 yr old son. Is this legal?

Yes, very legal and required as both a condition of his probation and as a person on the sex offender registry. It is possible for that to be changed by the trial court (removed as a condition of his probation), but first he will have to undergo an evaluation under the Tennessee program known as Standardized Treatment for Sexual Offenders.
After an evaluation, that will probably include a polygraph examination, then maybe -- maybe -- he be allowed to associate with a person who has a minor child.
