Obtaining a transcript of a murder trial
How do I obtain a transcript of a murder trial for a murder which occurred in TN in 1976?

There are several possible ways that the transcript may be obtained. If the defendant was convicted and sentenced, there was likely an appeal. In that case, the appellate court likely was given a copy of the transcript. It is unlikely the appellate court still has it, however.
Another possible way is to contact the clerk's office, to see if they have a copy. If not, you may also try to find out which Court reporter's office recorded the proceedings, and to try to get it through them. However, given the age of the case, this may be difficult.
