Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

Pre Trial Diversion

Can you please tell me what type of cases are eligible for consideration of Pre-trial Diversion?? If I understand correctly, this enables a person to not plea and not have a trial for a specific time period under agreed upon circumstances. At the end of that time period, if no violations to the agreement has occurred the case is dropped, and if at any time a violation occurs within that time period, the case is set for trial. Would a state case where a person is accused of extortion be eligible?

Thank you

Terry

Re: Pre Trial Diversion

Pretrial Diversion may be available. Some diversions require a plea, some do not. Are you in federal court or state court? The availability of diversion may be affected by your criminal history.

If you are charged with a crime, you clearly need a criminal defense lawyer to represent you. If you would like to set up a meeting, contact me through my website at TennesseeDefense.com.
