Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

I was pulled over once and charged with a couple charges and am going through court still.Ok well I end up driving again and there was an incident right in front of the annex building in Athens TN and the cops come and i had just left to go to the store to get a pack of cigaretts and my girlfriend was in the hair salon at the end of the annex building well i come back and see a cop car well he pulls out behind me and i stop at the stop sign and turn then i pull in and he pulls right behind me and i was already out of my car well he never had his lights on and he ask if i had my license i said no he asked if i had been arrested before i said yes told him why and he told me to put my hands behind my back i asked if i was under arrest he said no he wanted to talk he put me in the car and then walked straight to my car and starts searching it he finds a joint and one perkaset and scales used for soil sampling and weight (for my old job) consruction well he never asked to search my car and then he takes me to the jail and never reads me my rights what should I do? I have a daughter and no job i cant afford an attorney What can i do?

What should you do? FIND a way to afford an attorney. Many courts in Tennessee refuse to appoint a defendant an attorney if the defendant has made bond, or if they do appoint an attorney you will likely get the public defenders office, which may have a very good attorney handling your case.... or may not, and even if the public defender handling your case is excellent, that attorney may well be so overloaded with cases that he or she is not able to give it the attention you would like.
