Girl gets kicked off team for making f,boy gets to play

My daughter played basketball,very good kid, was struggling in math.She got kicked off the team for making an f in math.Boy that sits right beside of her in math brags about goofing off,making an f,and still gets to play.same grade same class.I was told by the school its the coaches rule.Boys have a coach girls.IS THIS POSSIBLE???

If the school is public, then your daughter has rights under the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution and similar provisions under the Tennessee Constitution. I am not sure what remedy, if any, those rights would afford her. Certainly, the school would need a very good reason for making such a distinction between the sexes. At the end of the day all you may accomplish is getting the boy suspended from the team along with your daughter.

Both public and private schools must comply with Title IX of the Civil Rights Act. There may be some relief there. Although again, the remedy may simply be that the boy is suspended.

I would need more facts upon which to base an opinion about whether your daughter may be entitled to money damages. I hope this helps.
