probate
My elderly father died intestate. His only estate was a $25,000 bank account for which my mother was beneficiary. He rented a trailer. Do the contents of the trailer have to be kept intact pending probate? Or must this estate even be probated?

Re: probate
You do not mention whether the trailer was owned by your father and mother or whether any trailer lot was owned by your father and mother. If your father died in a nursing home and received Tenncare, then Tenncare might lay claim to the joint bank account and any land owned jointly at the time of your mother's death. Tenncare rules are complicated. If your father died in a nursing home and received Tenncare, you and your mother should consult with a lawyer as to if and when your father's estate should be probated.
