Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Tennessee

Giving cash prizes for online poker

I have developed an online poker site where members can sign up and play poker.

I do not take any money from the players but want to have a sponsor that would give cash and prizes to the winners as well as to myself for running the site and also would give money to the winners out of my own pocket. I do not want to have any affiliation with real money poker sites and do not want any gambling involved.

The idea is to use my poker site as an advertisement tool.

ive actually been giving money to the winners out of my pocket (just $10 here and there) but have taken down the site now that the major development is finished.

My question is what legal procedures do i need to follow so that i am not breaking any laws when doing this. I do not want to go to jail for giving away money and would like to know exactly what is legal and what form or agreement i should use when doing this, if any?

one thing that i know is that giving money to children under 18 is probably not legal. how do i handle this?

Re: Giving cash prizes for online poker

You need to hire a lawyer to help you analyze all of the ramifications of this site. You have intellectual property issues, legal compliance, internet usage, etc... It is too complicated and factually specific to get any meaningful help on this or any other legal site. Invest some money and hire an attorney to help you get this thing going correctly.
