Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Adult name change in Knoxville,Tn

I ordered a name change kit online. One of the things it says is that you have to do a publication notice in the local newspaper. I have read somewhere else that you don't have to. What I am wondering is do I have to do it or not?

I am over the age of 18. I am only doing the name change to have a full name on my birth certificate. Thank you!

No. Under Tennessee law you don't have to publish notice. You don't even have to get a court order. The law on name changes in Tennessee is set out on my website at http://jesbeard.com/9.htm
