Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
when your attorney doesn't do his job
I have been trying to get a divorce. I paid my attorney last year and the last time I had any communication with him was a copy of a letter to my spouse's attorney. I have called with no return calls.
what do I do next?

Re: when your attorney doesn't do his job
You should hand deliver or fax a letter to the attorney demanding a status update and an explanation of why the case has dragged on for a year. Keep a copy of your letter and send it to the Board of Professional Responsibility, the agency that can impose discipline on the attorney. You can get contact information by searching for the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility on the Internet.
