Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Bigamy

My fiance was married to a woman. When he found out she was already married he wanted to get a divorce, the county clerk told him it wasn't necessary because his marriage wasn't legal. Now an attorney is telling him he has to divorce her legally. Can you tell me if this is true. What we can legally do to her for bigamy and all that it intels. Thank you.

In my opinion the proper way to handle this is for him to get an annulment before the two of you get married. Good luck.
