Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

how can we help this child?

My husbands son from a previous relationship (they were never married) came to stay with us in Feb., his mother said that she was about to lose her apartment and could not afford to take care of him. My husband flew out to CO and brought him back to TN, with a paper that both of them signed saying that the mother knew and was willingly doing this. Since then she has said things to him during their few and far between talks that has caused him a great deal of grief. We have put him in therapy, because of behavioral issues and he told us that her then boyfriend(which also may be the father of her unborn child)hit him, threw him across the room, etc, the child says that his mom was there and saw it all. Since he has not been in TN for 6mths, we have been told that there is nothing we can do. We even made a report to DCS, she failed the drug test, and still nothing happened. Is there anything that we can do to keep him from going back to CO? The mother says that she will be in town to take him back soon, he is suppose to leave next week. We just can't let him go back to another bad situation. There are of course many other reasons for him not to go back.....but i only have so much room...... Thanks for any help!!

Re: how can we help this child?

You are going to need him here for 6 months to fight it here. However, there is no reason why you can't fight it in CO.
