Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Does child support need to be continued after age 18

If when a child starts school, he is to graduate in 1999, but fails and will not graduate until the year 2000, does the law apply that one must pay child support until the child graduates.

Child fails kindergarten because custodial parent did not make sure child attended school. Child is now in danger of failing senior year because of attendence. Is paying parent of child support obligated to support child until he finally graduates?

Generally speaking in Tennessee child support obligations continue until either the child's class graduates from high school, or the child turns 18, whichever is later.

In your case, even if the child is not graduating, the child's CLASS will be. You will, however, almost certainly need to Petition the Court to formally end the child support obligation.
