Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

child support wanted

My husband and I recieved full custody of his son

a year ago after a long custody battle. His ex-wife was told she would have to pay child support but since she had no job at that time it was waived "for now" (the judges words). She is now been employed for some time and has not made any attempts to pay any child support, going as far as saying she doesnt have to. How can we get it started without having to go back through a long court deal.

Re: child support wanted

You can beg the mother to pay out of her sense of responsibility, or take her to court or forget about it.... but there really are no other options to get her to pay her support.

If you want to go out and COLLECT the support, you could do so, garnishing her washes -- under Tennessee law child support is to be considered a judgement that you can execute on as soon as it becomes due. This approach might get the mom to begin paying her support as ordered.

good luck
