Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Child's well being
Our daughter is 16 years old. When she was 15 I purchased a car for her, in return she has blown the motor up and ripped the transmission out. I was going to repair the vehicle but now she has been put in an alternative school for drugs. The police have decided to press charges against her for having drugs on school property. Her mother and I are now divorced and the mom is now telling me she wants the car fixed in the next 45 days or she will take me back to court. Her mother is soley vested as owner of the car. Do I have to fix the car even with her being in this much trouble or is there something legal I can do about this?

Re: Child's well being
Unless, there is a court order about the car, I am not aware of any law or procedure that would require you to provide a car for your daughter, nor to repair a car she drives. Best of luck.
