Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Client Forms
I'm getting divorced (stipulated case). My attorney has just faxed me--name removed--Client Information Form and--name removed--Required Statistical Information Form for me to fill out and return. Is it standard practice to ask for personal info.? Bank Info.,Acct.#,SS#,DL#,Race,Previous Marriage,Ed.Completed,Emergency#? And what does Matter and Jurisdiction mean? I hate to be suspicious but,is this info. really necessary to obtain--name removed--divorce? Help!!

Re: Client Forms
If I've hired an attorney, I'd ask him/her these questions. That's what you're paying him/her for. These questions will not offend him/her.
Re: Client Forms
Short answer. Yes. That information is required for a form which has to be filed with the court before your divorce will be finalized. You could possibly fight the issue, but doing so would likely cost you thousands of dollars. Just fill out the form.
