Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

contempt of court?

I am the stepfather of a 16 month old girl. My wife's ex has been in prison since before the baby was born. He has been out for 4 months, however has failed to pay any support. The referee in court ordered for visitation. My wife and myself know that it is not in our daughter's best interest. If we refuse to comply, what could happen and what could/most likely happen. We are prepared to move out of state in order to keep our daughter safe.

Re: contempt of court?

You must comply with the court order or you could be held in contempt and lose custody of your daugter. I suggest you appeal the ruling of the referee.
