Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

divorce

I was Married for years and my husband cheated around on me with my sister-n-law, so we ended up spliting up, he served me with divorce papers without a court date on them-Is this legal? also we were communicating about settleling our divorce out of court and talking about this on the telephone, the next thing I know he told me we were divorced and that he received the house. He said that I did not appear in court and they awarded him the divorce because I had not showed up at the last (2) court dates, which I never even knew there had been a date set, he had me believing we were working this out and I did not need a lawyer, he was going to be fare? Can you tell me what my legal rights are? I thought that I would of had to be served showing there was a court date, or at least contacted and let know. He slipped this by me without me knowing what he was doing? The only thing I was awarded was % of his stock, which I don't even know the amount of what it is.. Please let me know if I have any chanches of doing anything about this.

Thank you,

Re: divorce

Depending on when all this took place as well as a number of other factors, you may have a right to set the decree aside. I can not stress enough the importance of your contacting a family law attorney in your area to see if there is anything you can do at this point. Do not delay. Best of luck.
