In a divorce in Tennessee, 4 1/2 yr marriage, no children - how are wedding gifts divided? Jointly purchased property is being divided 50-50 but silver/china (worth $6K+) is being disputed. Custom once was that gifts belong to the bride who bore the wedding expenses. more details: husband (independently wealthy) alcoholic DUI rehab, etc wife: school teacher. Husband angry, wants all.

property is generally divided equally as is debt. The gifts are marital property and thus belong to you both.
