Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee
Emancipation for psychological health
I would like to become emancipated from my parents. I'm 17 years old, employed part-time, and go to college on scholarship. I have decided that it would be better for my psychological well-being to move out of my parent's house. My family relations have been strained for several months and it's difficult for me to cope with the stress. I have a steady boyfriend that I could move in with and I could work enough to pay my own bills. I could also take out student loans to pay for what my scholarships do not cover. Do I have a case for emancipation? If so, how do I go about doing it in a timely fashion? My birthday isn't until the end of July and I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Who would I contact and how would I start the process?

Re: Emancipation for psychological health
Contact a local attorney. He would prepare a petition to take the matter to a local judge in your county. The facts you present would go a long way to getting you emancipated. If you don't know of anyone else to contact, feel free to call me at 423-267-4391
