Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

My ex-wife and I have joint custody (50%) with our son. I pay her child support monthly, pay for my sons health/dental insurance monthly and she claims him on her taxes every other year. My pay was just cut in half. Am I "obligated" to pay child support in the state of Tennessee? If so, how is this based?? Depending what we can prove she makes and what I make annually??

Good day,

Yes, you are still obligated to make your child support payments. However, you can modify your payments. You need to file with the court a motion to modify your child support payments. Child support in Tennessee is income based and allows modification for an income change of 15% or greater. I reiterate the fact that you must continue to pay your current child support payments until the Judge grants the modification in an Order, otherwise you can be held in Contempt of Court for violating a Court Order. Tennessee judges are very stern when it comes to child support.
