Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

My fiance and I are planning on getting married next year. My fiance has a 5 year old daughter from a previous realtionship. In talking with friends, he was told that once he and I get married, the court can garnish a portion of my wages to go towards child support that is being paid. Is this true?
