Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

grandparent help

My wife and I are married and have 3 kids, 2 which are not mine. there from a previous marriage, he owes her about 14,000 dollars in child support, and hasnt paid once, and has been running from the cops for awhile. his parents call and want the kids over or want to come over sometimes. my wife and i dont want them to because they know where he lives and helps him out every once in a while. i cant prove that with any visable proof though. we dont see the best intrest of the kids is seeing them, knowing that there aiding someone who should be behind bars right now. my wife and i are wondering that if they try to go to court for vistation rights, would they win. were from TN and its up to us if we allow them to see our kids, but i was wondering if they could do something that we dont know about to get the visitation rights.

I think you are pretty safe. I happen to think that children need their grandparents unless there is a danger involved. I understand your anger, but the children should not be punished for their father's bad deeds. Anyway, TN has a grandparent visitation statute and there are ways for grandparents to get visitation, but it does not appear that the statute would require such visitation in your case. I would contact a local attorney to discuss the grandparent visitation statute with you. Best of luck.
