Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Guardianship/second husband

Recently remarried. Have three children. Want new husband named legal guardian while researching adoption. Need info to know if need lawyer or can we do on our own, does it cost, how much, how long does the process take, would it be easier to just do the adoption?

Re: Guardianship/second husband

Guardianship

I believe what you are asking is, you want your husband to have certain rights with respect to the children re: medical decisions, the right to make decisions as if he were the parent, etc. If this is what you desire, you would need a temporary custody order.

Adoption

There is what is called a step-parent adoption. But, there are too many other facts missing to give you answers to all of your questions, and give you a fee quote. I would be more than happy to discuss the guardianship(custody), adoption, and any other concens you have over the phone. Call me at 423 266-4855.
