Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Husband having complete financial control

Is there a law or something that gives a husband complete control over his wife and all income? My husband went and took away my rights to our checking and savings accounts; I can no longer access our accounts, nor can I evenwrite or cash a check at our financial institution. Can he do this legally?, and if not, then what do I do? I exist only on what he decides that I may have or do. I have had two back surgeries and am unable to work. He constantly threatens to "kick" me out on the street because I "have nothing of my own." Although, he had no problem spending the money I recieved after my injuries.

You need to speak directly with a Tennessee attorney to address the specifics of your case.

If you would care to speak with me, you can call me at my office at 423-267-4391.

But to answer your very general question of whether a husband in Tennessee has legal authority over all of his wife's finances -- the answer is no.

In your case, however, is sounds as if you need to take some concrete action instead of simply knowing what the law is.
