Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Inheritance

My husband's parents divorced when he was young, and his father remarried, producing no more children. Five years ago, his father died. Is my husband entitled to anything, under Tennessee law, where his father resided? Does he need a lawyer in Tennessee for this matter?

Re: Inheritance

Whether your husband was "entitled" to anything depends on whether his father had a Will, what hid directions were in any will, and what assets he had on his death after his bills were paid.

Yes. It would be a good idea to consult with a Tennessee attorney about the situation.

Re: Inheritance

Is your husband's father died without a Will, he could be entitled to up to half of his father's estate, depending if he had any siblings.

If your husband's father died in Tennessee, then you would need an attorney in Tennessee.
