Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Legal Ethics and confidentiality

Husband's divorce attorney rep'd me before in family law matters - conflict of interest? Also, same lawyer kept sending confidential letters/proposals etc to an atty I told him no longer rep'd me. Prior atty never told me he was even receiving anything...feels like my confidentiality has been kinda bruised. Any response appreciated!

Re: Legal Ethics and confidentiality

I can not say for certain whether there is a conflict of interest. That is a serious allegation so you should contact your current attorney and see if he/she believes you can disqualify the other attorney based upon a conflict of interest. I think you should be concerned about a conflict if you shared any information with the lawyer that could be helpful to your husband in your current divorce proceedigs. Do not make any assumptions. Consult counsel about this first. Good luck.
