While I can't say it would be impossible, I do find it very unlikely that you would be able to achieve this without the assistance of an attorney. Adoption law is complicated enough that hiring an attorney to do it would be worth the expense. My firm as well as others would probably be willing to do this type of adoption for a flat fee so you would know the expense in advance of hiring an attorney.
