Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

marriage to self

I am a young adult wondering if one could legally marry oneself. I've researched the marriage laws in Tennessee and they say nothing about it. I read an article in a magazine that described another woman doing this in New York. It didn't specify if it was legal. I realize I can have a ceremony without including the legal procedures, but I'd prefer if it were for real. I don't see the harm in it. The only major difference between an unwed couple and a married couple is that the married couple files their taxes together. Seeing as there won't be another person in the relationship, I'll be filing my taxes the same way.I wouldn't have to go to court over it, would I? I thank anyone who takes the time to reply to such a whimsical and bizarre question.
