How to obtain a divorce from absent spouse?

I am a single mother of two who has been separated from my husband since Nov 98, I want a divorce but I can't find him. Also I would like to know the cheapest and fastest way to get a divorce from him. He told me he was in jail, but I have no way of confirming this.

Under Tennessee law (and the law in most other states), a person can serve a spouse by publication if they truly can not be found otherwise, but first make a serious effort to locate him.

"Service by publication" generally costs about $150 IN ADDITION to all other costs of the divorce.
